Myasthenia Gravis is an auto-immune disease which can affect people of all ages and both sexes. It occurs in about one person per 7,000 of the population. The disease causes debilitating weakness which can affect any of the motor muscles and in very severe cases may lead to death, unless it is treated correctly. There is no cure, and effective treatment requires skilled medical intervention. The Myasthenia Gravis Association is a Registered Charity which operates in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Its objectives are to promote research into better diagnosis and treatment of the disease, to raise awareness amongst the public and medical profession, and to support sufferers from the disease. More information can be found on the Association's Website HERE |
